Like most Nordic countries, Denmark can be an expensive place to visit, but scratch the surface and Denmark has some amazing things to offer students from all corners of the world!

Education in Denmark

The Danish educational system is designed to promote creativity, innovation, and analytical and critical thinking. Higher education in Denmark combines traditional lectures and tutorials with teaching that helps students develop strong problem solving skills. Instructors encourage open debate and problem-based learning methods designed to help students express themselves and work well as a part of a team.

Academic standards in Denmark are quite high, which means that Danish degrees are respected worldwide. Colleges and universities in Denmark often partner with business, industry and research institutes, allowing students the opportunity to learn directly from industry experts.

Healthcare in Denmark

One of the many draws that Denmark has to offer is their healthcare system; it is a nationalised healthcare system that offers excellent medical care. Healthcare in Denmark is among the best available, and as an international student you should learn about how you can access this.

International Students who wish to study or travel to Denmark will need to purchase international health insurance coverage for all or part of their time studying. Depending on whether you are from outside the EU or from a partner EU state, the options and coverage available to you will vary so it’s important to know the regulations:

The Denmark visa insurance requirements are:

  • Foreign students from within the EU should bring their European Health Insurance Card to show proof of coverage from the first day you arrive in Denmark. If you are planning to stay for more than 3 months, you need to register immediately for Danish National Healthcare once you arrive.
  • Foreign students from outside the EU can still apply for Danish National Healthcare, but coverage will only start 3 months after arrival. Therefore, you will need to purchase private health insurance for the first 3 months.
  • Students staying less than 3 months from outside the EU will need to apply for the Schengen Visa and meet the Schengen Visa Insurance requirements.

Students who need to purchase private international student insurance coverage for their time in Denmark can purchase one of the plans below that will meet all requirements - and you can apply online quickly and easily!
